The Experience
Take on the challenge of driving a rally car on a purpose-built loose-surface stage in Oxfordshire. This full-day course is an opportunity to learn proper rally driving techniques, experience how a competition-style car handles and put your skills to the test against the clock.
The day begins with a briefing before it's time to get behind the wheel. With an experienced instructor alongside you, the course covers techniques such as handbrake turns and Scandinavian flicks, as well as how to recognise and manage understeer and oversteer. Driving on a loose surface is quite different from everyday motoring, and learning to control the car through the corners is all part of the experience.
Throughout the course, the same instructor works with you to develop your technique and build confidence on the rally stage. The school's fleet includes the Ford Escort RS2000, Subaru Impreza and Peugeot 206 Super Cup, with one of its rally-spec cars used for the session. The particular vehicle is subject to the venue's arrangements.
As the day progresses, there's a chance to put everything into practice in a timed rally competition. With the clock running, the challenge is to make the most of your newly learned skills and compete for the title of driver of the day.
Groups are kept to around five or six drivers, allowing for individual instruction throughout the course. A rally certificate is included as a reminder of the experience, while optional high-speed passenger rides and in-car camera packages are available for an additional charge.
