The experience

Your day begins with a visit to two of the major basilicas of the world, namely the basilicas of St. John in Lateran and St. Maria Maggiore. The Basilica of St. John in Lateran is the oldest of the 4 principal basilicas of Rome and is the house of the Holy stairs, one of the most important pilgrimage sites of the city. From here on you fo to the Basilica of St. Maria Maggiore where magnificent collections of the historic and religious artefacts are stored. Admire the 5th century mosaics and the incredible crypt of the Nativity. 

Next, you will go to the historic Appian road where you pass the Chapel of Domine Quo Vadis before going to the underground catacombs of Ancient Rome. Discover the incredible underground cemetaries, some of which were built in the 2nd century. Take a look at the beautiful historic artworks in the catacombs and learn how these underground ways give an image about the first days of Christianity.

Vital information 

Sleeveless shirts and shorts are not permitted inside the churches. A drop off service in Rome city center is included in this tour. You can drop off at following stops: Stazione Termini, S. Maria Maggiore, Piazza Barberini, Via Ludovisi en Largo Santa Susanna.
