60 Minute Helicopter Flying Lesson:

The Experience

Take control of the skies with a 60 Minute Helicopter Flying Lesson.

This is your chance to sit in the pilot’s seat and learn the essentials of helicopter flight with an expert instructor beside you.

Your lesson begins with a safety briefing and an introduction to the aircraft. Your instructor will explain the controls and outline what to expect once you are airborne.

When everything is ready, you’ll lift off and experience the thrill of flight. Guided by your instructor, you’ll practise take-off, hovering and smooth directional changes. You’ll also be introduced to maintaining altitude and preparing for landing.

During the lesson, you’ll take the controls yourself. This is your opportunity to feel how responsive the helicopter is and how small movements create immediate results. Your instructor will stay in control when needed, giving you confidence and keeping the experience safe.

Over the course of the 60 minutes, you’ll learn new skills and enjoy an entirely new perspective from the cockpit. The combination of instruction and hands-on flying makes every moment both challenging and rewarding.

By the end of the session, you’ll leave with the unforgettable memory of flying a helicopter and the satisfaction of having learned real piloting techniques!

60 Minute Helicopter Flying Lesson:

60 Minute Helicopter Flying Lesson: Disponibilité

60 Minute Helicopter Flying Lesson: Bon à savoir

The helicopter is one of the most flexible forms of travel. It does what an aircraft does - it flies forwards and up and down - but it doesn't stop there. A helicopter can also fly backwards, hover motionless, perform a 360 degree pirouette, stop quickly in mid-air and the entire machine can rotate. However, these remarkable qualities make it a stimulating challenge to fly. The pilot holds the controls, known as the 'cyclic', with one hand, controlling the craft's ability to go forward, backwards, left and right. The pilot's other hand holds the 'collective', controlling the engine speed and vertical movement. So what about other movements? With both hands full the pilot has to use the feet, pushing two foot pedals that control the tail rotor which causes the craft to turn in any direction. The helicopter's main rotor attached to the engine via a clutch, causes the craft to lift. This on its own would cause the body to spin, so extra force is applied to the body via the tail rotor which balances the power of the engine and prevents unwanted spinning. Flying a helicopter means thinking in three dimensions - no wonder it's so exhilarating!
